The University aims to become an academic-research-training ecosystem for security and police.  Its endeavors focus on highly professional security, police education, research, and training through its qualified civilian and security faculty, committed human resources, motivated participants and students, intellectually stimulating and professional disciplined environment, and world-wide network, sharing, and exchange. It aims at providing security and strategic education in the contemporary and futuristic security and strategic studies and interdisciplinary areas. The University contributes to vision of India of Peace, Prosperous and Stable World in alliance with grand strategic cooperation between like-minded nations and promoting greater understanding between senior security, police officers, diplomats, civil servants and civilians to promote the cause of the Nation. It adopts a two-tier approach, at the national and international levels, in its education, research and training, and extension in order to achieve capabilities to respond to the needs, expectations, and aspirations of the security and strategic institutions and forces as well as law-making, governance, judiciary, economy (agriculture-manufacturing-service sectors) and the civil society organizations.

The University

The University is destined to grow as a model security educational University of India. People at The University

The The University eminence can be measured by its leadership, faculty and programs of jointness of academic and research on one hand and strategic, military and security forces on the other hand. Faculty comprises of qualified, result-oriented and enthusiastic academicians, researchers and practitioners drawn from civilian and security / police backgrounds. They have acquired qualifications and experience from leading civilian and military, police universities and institutions of India and abroad and have publications and exposure in international conferences, peer-reviewed journals, books and contributed to magazines and such other relevant written media. Students or participants, while mainly come from security / military, police forces and civilian backgrounds, their diversity create a mosaic of regional, linguistic, cultural and ethnic diversity, which gives The University a national character, makes it an “Indian Omnibus.”

The University aspires to attract and collaborate with institutions and individuals from around the world and will work towards building a network of eminent security strategists and policing planners, executives, scholars, academicians, members of para-military agencies, researchers, institutions and governmental agencies. On the other hand, it aims at building its own capacities by integrating faculty training and up-gradation activities to transform the University into a self-sufficient centre of learning and excellence. People at the University will work for creating the University an amalgam of strategic and security teaching, research, training and extension.

Academic Partnership with the Strategic and Security Forces and Institutions

The University engagements with the forces and institutions of strategic, security, police and interdisciplinary fields and institutional reforms is evolving and gradually making a mark. It aspires to become a leading and most sought after resource centre to aid and advice these institutions at all levels. It envisages strategic engagements and collaborations between strategic and security and police forces, institutions, faculties, researchers, research centres and students and these institutions to contribute to the strategic security and police culture and development within and outside India. Officers from Forces availing study leave for higher studies, including PhD, post-Doctoral and specialized research at the University.

Achieving Self-Reliance on Strategic Security and Police Resources – Material and Manpower alike

The University aims to contribute to achieve the time-bound completion of goal of self-reliance on strategic security and police resources – defense manufacturing, acquisition, deployment and exports through national and international collaboration. The University contributes to promote the institutions, industry and small-medium enterprises as well as innovation and incubation of enterprises towards this goal. The University aims to identify, promote and sustain areas of inclusion of women forces and achieving necessary balance in terms of career opportunities, executive and leadership roles. The University gives affirmative priorities in all its policies and programs to achieve the goal of gender balance in this regard.

Engagements with Foreign Institutions and Individuals

The University seeks to engage and collaborate with foreign institutions and agencies, including international organisations, such as UN Peace-Keeping Forces, UN Police, INTERPOL, International Maritime Organisation, International Telecommunication Union, UNCOPOUS, International Civil Aviation Organisation, etc., working for promoting and maintaining peace, security and global order based on respect for international law and comity of nations.

Engagements with Institutions of Law-Making, Governance and Judiciary

Institutions of Law-Making, Governance and Judiciary are the constituent organs of nation’s overall growth and development. Systematic and timely interactions between the strategic and security educators and participants with them are essential. The University seeks to build and maintain close relations with these institutions to learn from their expectations and concerns and on its side, to contribute to their thinking, execution and monitoring of laws, policies and instruments of governance.

Engagements with Security Related Industrial, Economic and Financial Sectors

Corporate and financial companies, Chambers of Commerce and other commercial establishments are the drivers of nation’s economy and are the leaders of national growth and prosperity in the present globalised and liberalised economy. With the expansion and diversification of the private and commercial sectors, necessity for strategic thinking and security concerns have crossed all conventional boundaries and spread its expanse to various non-conventional areas.  The curriculum and pedagogy at the University is designed to train and equip and give exposure to the participants and students by way of teaching, specialised certificate courses and non-teaching activities such as internships, exposure visits, interactions with forces, experts, in order to make them most suited to the strategic and security institutions, national and international alike.

The University envisages to engage with people from manufacturing, and services in curricular and co-curricular activities of the University so as to provide an active platform for participants and students to learn and experience the nuanced understanding of these sectors and its interface with strategic and security laws, policies and governance. It also aspires to create a network between the institutions, students, faculty and researchers and these three sectors to promote sharing and collaboration and learning.

The University commits to significantly contribute to a sustainable self-security nation model whereby the Nation enjoys self-sustainable security for homeland, energy, food, environment, water, knowledge, air and space, maritime and land security as a whole. While welcoming the knowledge towards enhancing the sense of self-security from other nations and foreign institutions, the University gives priority to indigenous means, methods and resources towards this wholesome concept of security.
