Centre for Linguistic and Cultural Studies
About Centre for Linguistic and Cultural Studies (CLCS)
The Centre for Linguistic and Cultural Studies (CLCS) at the School of International Cooperation, Security and Strategic Languages (SICSSL), Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), aims to integrate language, culture, and strategic studies within the national security framework.
Grounded in the principles of SICSSL, the Centre seeks to cultivate a more profound understanding of how language and culture influence international relations, diplomacy, and security narratives. It will provide specialized workshops in strategic languages such as Mandarin, Russian, Arabic, French, Tibetan, English, and Japanese, with a strong focus on contextual learning—where the acquisition of language is complemented by cultural immersion and awareness of geopolitical contexts.
The Centre will also serve as a platform for interdisciplinary research, focusing on topics such as linguistic anthropology, cultural diplomacy, translation and interpretation studies, and the role of indigenous languages in national identity and resilience. Through workshops, seminars, and collaborative projects, it will engage scholars, diplomats, and security professionals in meaningful dialogue and knowledge exchange.
One of the Centre’s core missions is to support India’s strategic outreach by equipping students and professionals with the linguistic tools and cultural intelligence necessary for effective engagement in global and regional arenas. It will also contribute to preserving and revitalizing endangered languages and cultural traditions, especially those relevant to India’s border regions and strategic partners.
With the language lab, access to native speakers, availability of International Relation scholars, and partnerships with international institutions, the Centre for Linguistic and Cultural Studies aim to become an important contributor to India’s academic and strategic landscape—where language is not just a skill, but a gateway to understanding, cooperation, and national security.
