About Centre for India's Neighbourhood and Internal Security Studies (CINISS)

Today's world is in a state of flux marked by volatility, uncertainty, and instability. The recent crises have impacted global geopolitics and geo-economics. They led not only to a spike in food, energy, and fertiliser prices but also to supply chain disruptions, which in turn hardened the economies of the global South, especially the countries in our immediate vicinity.

Over the years, India has emerged as the primary responder to global crises. It specifically affects people in the immediate neighbourhood. However, the projection of India's contributions towards neighbouring countries needs to be highlighted.

As we have observed recently, the ongoing battle of narratives has become increasingly prevalent, potentially impeding the development of a robust and prosperous India. The contested battle of narratives requires combatting disseminated misinformation and disinformation through effective public communication.

A dedicated Centre to help strengthen links with other countries in the neighbourhood to assist the efforts of the Government of India.

In a rapidly changing global landscape, the importance of robustness and collaboration with neighbouring nations cannot be underestimated. The CINISS will play a pivotal role in comprehensively studying the geostrategic landscape of India's neighbourhood. The study will encompass the political, cultural, and social aspects of India's interactions with its neighbours.

The Centre aims to serve as a focal point for in-depth research. It aims to analyse and understand the diverse and dynamic relationships that India enjoys with its neighbouring countries. Such research will guide India's foreign policy decisions with evidence-based outcomes.
