Vision and Mission

RRU is the first university in Asia to initiate online Cyber Psychology course during pandemic as it had negative impact on psychological wellbeing. With an aim to provide interesting, useful and benefitting education Cyber Psychology online courses were planned that can help in understanding the interface of technology, social communicators, and its impact on the thoughts, feelings, emotions resulting in unwanted behaviour.

About Centre of Excellence for Cyber Psychology (CECP)

The School of Criminology and Behavioural Science signed a MoU with Central India Institute of Psychological Science (CIIPS), Nagpur Maharashtra and launched the Centre of Excellence for Cyber Psychology in January 2021. The Centre works for providing awareness on communication including how it changes the meaning with our modern ways of conveying, how the communication on social media has a positive and negative impact on the minds of children, family, friends and communicators. Present ways of communication are landing them to various difficulties resulting in behaviours which are not prosocial. This center also provides mental health service to the cyber victims, cyber perpetrators, who have been referred to for cyber bullying, threatening, harassment problems. Center of Excellence for Cyber Psychology is offering online diploma course and more such online course to schools, colleges, corporates, govt bodies, defense, police & security personnel will be offered in next academic year.

Doctorate of Philosophy is a three-year programme in which full time/Part time programmes are offered. The main objective of this programme is to prioritize transdisciplinary research and cross-sector collaboration, recognizing that national security challenges often transcend multiple domains. It also endeavors to attract and retain top talents to make them leaders in their respective field with the ability to think critically, act proactively, and communicate effectively. This aims to develop the strong research skills among scholars, so they can apply theories, practicals and their experiences into practice. The admission to the Programme is through Entrance Examination conducted by the Research & Publication division. The eligibility, duration, modalities and other conditions of the Programme are governed by RRU PhD Rules & Regulations.

This two year full time program is recognized and approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India. The course is developed rigorously with extensive theoretical inputs and widespread clinical experience to acquire the necessary skills in the area of Clinical Psychology. The program is designed with the aim to develop skilled mental health professionals who can diagnose mental health problems and carry out relevant treatments/management. These professionals can conceptualize specific child, adult and elderly mental health by giving the due consideration to psychosocial/ contextual factors. By the end of the training, they can apply psychological principles and techniques in the rehabilitation and reintegration, work with the psychosocial dimensions of physical diseases, formulate and undertake targeted psychosocial interventions, work with the community to promote health, quality of life and psychological well being. They can also undertake research and responsibilities connected with teaching and training in areas of Clinical Psychology.

The BPsy program will prepare students to help in providing psychological services at the para-professional levels as well as support and maintenance services. Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA) in association with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) & Prison and Correctional Administration of Gujarat State initiated a Centre for Psycho-social care for rehabilitation & reintegration of prison inmates at Sabarmati central prison. The center was virtually inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Justice of India U U Lalit on 19th August 2022.

The center is dedicated to provide psychological services and interventions to the extremist inmates. This aims to reform and reintegrate them into the mainstream of the society. The center is a collaborative initiative of RRU & Prison and Correctional Department, Gujarat State.

This laboratory comprises advanced tools & technologies that help in the investigation of a crime scene. The laboratory focuses on improving the investigative skills of students by providing them exposure to mock crime scenes with the use of advanced kits and tools. It comprises instruments, kits & tools viz 3D Crime Scene Scanner, Poly ray kit, Fingerprint development kit, Crime scene kit, DSLR cameras.

This laboratory comprises advanced tools & technologies that help in the investigation with the suspect/ accused or victim and in assessing & diagnosing the clinical issues being faced by patients/juveniles/prisoners. The laboratory focuses on improving the investigative and clinical skills of students by providing them exposure to simulation studies, psychodiagnostic tools and relaxation tools, which can be utilized and used in varied settings. Students have postings at Out Patient Department at Hospital for Mental Health, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where they utilize the psychological testing materials to assess, diagnose and provide psychotherapy to the patients.

The laboratory is devoted for the Examination of several physical evidence such as Bullets, Cartridge cases, Firearms, Tool marks, Glass, Soil, Paint, Fiber, etc. This lab is equipped with highly advanced instruments such as a comparison microscope, Eyepiece less stereo microscope, High-resolution hand-held microscope. Laboratory functions for Comparison of different samples can also be done in this laboratory with the use of a Comparison microscope.

The laboratory is dedicated to the identification of unknown materials that can be encountered at a crime scene. It usually involves trace evidence analysis of Drugs and their metabolites, alcohol and other beverages, arson and explosive residues, fabric, glass composition, gunshot residue, paint and ink, soil, etc. through various colour tests also known as field test/spot test after extracting the same from non-biological matrices. Various extraction procedures viz. Liquid – Liquid Extraction and Solid – Phase Extraction techniques are utilized in isolation of these trace evidence followed by in vitro chromatographic procedures while the final confirmatory analysis is carried out using sophisticated and state-of-the-art instruments. Fume – hood, and autoclaves help to prevent exposure to hazardous chemicals.

The laboratory is devoted to the analysis of several biological evidence such as blood, hair, and other biological fluids such as semen, saliva, urine, vaginal secretion, etc. by using several organic, inorganic, qualitative, and quantitative techniques. The lab also offers a qualitative and quantitative analysis of protein, blood grouping, etc. The laboratory is equipped with numerous auxiliaries as well as sophisticated instruments such as Gel electrophoresis, Gel documentation system, Refrigerated centrifuge, and different types of microscopes like Stereo microscope, compound microscope, etc.

Forensic Accounting and Financial Investigations Laboratory consists of advanced software’s that are used for the examination and interpretation of the financial records, having state-of-the-art software’s it also provides an up-to-date resource for detecting, preventing and successfully prosecuting financial frauds. It aims towards proactively managing risk by measuring, testing and auditing internal processes. The lab also involves research-based tools which provides assistance in carrying out unique research in the field thus serving the motto protecting internal security. The laboratory has its applications in academics, student’s hands on training, research, and training of the executives as well.

The lab is dedicated to the analysis of various samples from Forensic Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Toxicology laboratories prepared using different sample preparation techniques. The lab is responsible for the confirmatory analysis of these exhibits by providing qualitative and quantitative results. Currently utilized for metal profiling by EDXRF, qualitative and quantitative analysis by UV-Visible Spectrophotometry, and simultaneous separation and identification by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography.

This laboratory is fully dedicated to the examination of all documents like passports, visas, stamps, seals, driving licenses, vehicle registration certificates, bank notes, revenue, special stamp, etc for establishing their authenticity. The lab is well equipped with advanced instruments such as VSC 6000/HS, Eyepiece less stereo microscope. These instruments are highly suitable for document verification and authentication under various light frequencies for better visualization and examination.

The goal of the Multi-Media Forensic laboratory is to analyze the images and video files to extract the evidence of Forensic value. It focuses specifically on still images by looking at the authenticity and integrity of data. This advanced lab consists of advanced equipment such as Amped Five Pro and Amped Authentication are specifically designed to provide a complete solution to process, restore, clarify, and analyze images and video in a simple, fast and precise way.
