Ms. Surekha T is an Assistant Professor of Criminology at Rashtriya Raksha University, where she teaches postgraduate courses in Criminology. She has worked and led the Forensic Mental Health Project at Sabarmati Prison, focusing on the mental health needs of incarcerated individuals.
With a strong interdisciplinary background in Criminology, Social Work, Law, and International Relations, Ms. Surekha is the Founder and Director of Sudhaar, an NGO dedicated to prison social work and reforms in Madhya Pradesh. Through Sudhaar, she has led pioneering initiatives on prisoner rehabilitation, training, advocacy, and research, contributing significantly to prison reforms and correctional services.
Ms. Surekha has contributed extensively to academia by mentoring postgraduate research and developing criminological-legal projects. She previously served as a Guest Speaker and Trainer at the Central Academy for Police Training (CAPT), conducting nationwide training for senior prison officials on criminology, prisoner psychology, and crime prevention.
Her research interests focus on socio-psychological and legal aspects of crime, including prisoner rehabilitation and reintegration, gender and crime, victim-offender dynamics, and counter-terrorism. Specializing in mixed-methods research, she is committed to advancing criminological knowledge and promoting safer communities.
