About

Lt Gen (Dr.) V K Ahluwalia is a distinguished military veteran and strategic thinker with an illustrious career spanning over four decades in the Indian Army. He holds a PhD in Management: Internal Security and Conflict Resolution from Amity University, an M.Phil in Defence Studies (First Division) from Indore University, and an M.Sc in Defence Studies & Management (Outstanding grade) from Madras University. A qualified Independent Director certified by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, General Ahluwalia has served in prominent leadership positions including Director of the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), Army’s premier think tank (2018-22), and Judge at the Armed Forces Tribunal, Jaipur-Jodhpur Benches (2013-2016). His distinguished military career includes command of the Central Command as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (2010-2012) and service as Director General Military Training (DGMT) in two tenures. He commanded corps operations in the challenging Leh-Ladakh-Siachen Sector and served as Deputy Military Assistant to General SF Rodrigues, COAS. As Colonel Commandant of the Army Aviation Corps (2007-2012), he conceptualized the comprehensive ’20 Years Road Map’ for organizational development and modernization. His operational achievements include receiving the National Green Governance Award from the Prime Minister for implementing ‘Operation Green Curtain’ during his tenure as GOC Kargil Division. General Ahluwalia’s academic contributions are extensive, having authored several books including “Red Revolution 2020 & Beyond: Strategic Challenges to Resolve Naxalism” and co-edited works on Kargil, COVID-19, and Bangladesh Liberation War. He has excelled in various military courses, topped flying training with the ‘Silver Auster’ award, and was among the first Indian officers trained on Bofors Gun Systems in Sweden. Currently serving as an Independent Director since 2018, he remains actively engaged in educational and social initiatives through various management committees and continues to contribute to strategic discourse on national security matters.
