Mr. Dineshkumar S. Patel is currently working as Subject Matter Specialist in the School of Internal Security and SMART Policing. Mr Patel has joined the Gujarat Police Department July 21 st , 1975 as Police Sub Inspector. He was promoted to the rank of Police Inspector, GPS (Class-II, Gazetted) on February 1, 1996 and thereafter to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, GPS (Class-1, Gazetted) May 15, 2008. He has served in many branches of the Gujarat Police viz. State Intelligence Bureau (5 years), Reader of Additional Commissioner of Police and Range Inspector General of Police (4 years), Anti-Terrorist Squad (3 years), Anti-Corruption Bureau (2.5 years), Traffic Branch (3 years) State Crime Bureau (1 year). Mr Patel has also served as a Sergeant at Arms and Deputy Sergeant at Arms in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly for 9 long years. During his tenure in ATS, he trained and sensitized more than 4000 private security guards of different private security companies in aspect of terrorism. After his completion of 37 years and 9 months of service, Mr. Patel retired on 30 th April 2013 on superannuation. Mr. Patel has been awarded with the President of India’s Police Medal (PPM) for meritorious service on January 26, 1998. He has also received cash reward of Rs. 10,000/- by Home Department, Govt. of Gujarat for timely and gallantry act during terrorist attack at Akshardham Temple, Gandhinagar on September 23 & 24, 2002. He also received appreciation letters from Speaker, Gujarat Legislative Assembly for his service as Sergeant as Arms. Mr. Patel has represented the Gujarat Police and visited the Hot Spring near Galwan Valley on Indo-China Border in Ladakh to pay homage to the Martyr’s at the memorial. He has received more than 170 cash rewards including appreciation letters from the SP, IGP, ADGP and DGP. Mr Patel has been involved in various Research Projects and Training Courses like PSI cadet training at Police Training College in Junagadh, Laying of Traps at CBI Academy in Ghaziabad, Investigation of disproportionate assets in CBI, Ghaziabad and VIP Security Training at Bureau of parliamentary Studies and training, Lok Sabha Secretariate, New Delhi.
