About

Dr. Sumit Kumar Choudhary is an academician, researcher, author, editor, consultant and influential thought leader in Forensic Science discipline. He is a Gold Medalist in Forensic Science from National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi and holds a Ph.D. degree in Forensic & Behavioural Science and boasts of a highly decorated academic profile with several academic credentials in the field of Forensic Science, Criminology, Police Administration & National Security. His Professional experience of spanning about 14 years involves his association with National Forensic Sciences University in capacity of a UGC Research Fellow which was followed by his appointment as the first faculty member in the first police university of India, Rashtriya Raksha University. He has served Rashtriya Raksha University in various capacities such as Academic Head of the university, Member of Board of Governors, Academic Council, Finance Committee, Programme Coordinators, University Vigilance Officer, Dean Forensic Science, Dean Training & youngest & longest serving Registrar of the university. He has been delivering lectures to serving Police Officers, Judges, Private security officers and students of Indian and renowned foreign universities. He has trained the police officers and other Criminal Justice system officers of more than 10 countries through various programmes of Ministry of External Affairs, GoI. He was a member of the Technical Group in the BPR&D National Level Committee for “Developing SOP in Crime Scene Photography & Videography” constituted under the directives of Hon. Supreme Court of India during June 2018. He has been nominated a member in 5-member National Level Committee constituted for planning & implementation of NABL Accreditation of all fingerprint bureaus of the country. He was appointed as Chairperson of the BPR&D appointed National Committee for development of E-Content in Forensic Science for Police Officers. He is a paper setter/ examiner for several other universities and Public Service Commissions. He has Organized, attended, chaired, convened a number of conferences, seminars, workshops of National & International level and has presented a number of Research papers and addressed scientific and technical sessions in such conferences and Seminars. He is a sought-after speaker in several conferences and training programmes. He is member of editorial board of several journals, founder chair of FIRST Dialogue, a forensic ideation forum and Principal Investigator of more than 3 research projects at present. He has to his credit more than 40 high impact research publications and is currently guiding many research scholars for their Doctorate, M.Phil. and Master’s Degree. He is Life Member of The Indian Science Congress Association, of Forensic Science Development Society, The Indian Society of Criminology & Indian Criminology and Forensic Science Association. He has been awarded with “Academic Excellence Award 2020” and “Best Academician Award – 2023” in the International Conference on Forensic Science. He is a keen Sportsperson having won several medals and “Sportsperson of the Year Award” consecutively for three years at RRU.

Ph.D. in Forensic & Behavioural Sciences for Doctoral Research work titled “Identification and characterization of type of tremors in handwriting and expert opinion thereon” from Institute of Research & Development, Raksha Shakti University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat (November, 2017).

M. Sc. Forensic Science (Gold Medalist); Completed 2 year (2007-09) full-time M.Sc programme from LNJN NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CRIMINOLOGY AND FORENSIC SCIENCE, MHA, New Delhi with 82.57% marks. .

B. Sc. (Botany Hons.); Completed 3 year full-time (2004–07) B.Sc programme with subjects- Botany, Zoology and Chemistry from Faculty of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi with 71.3% marks

PG Diploma in Criminology and Police Administration from Madurai Kamraj University (DDE) with 59 % marks in 2011.

Completed Certificate in system management from Edusoft Research and Training Centre, Noida with B+ grade in 2008
