About

Dr. Chandani Tiwari is an Assistant Professor of International Relations and Security Studies at the School of International Cooperation, Security, and Strategic Languages (SICSSL) since October 2025. She has previously worked with Symbiosis International (Deemed) University, Pune, from December 2022 to October 2025. She taught courses on International Relations, International Political Economy, Public Policy, and International Organisations at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Before joining Symbiosis, Dr. Tiwari worked as a Research Associate at the Policy Perspectives Foundation, New Delhi, where she contributed to an interdisciplinary research project titled “Central Asian States: A Contextual Study of Challenges and Pathways for India” and continues to hold an editorial position as Associate Editor for Insight on Africa (SAGE Publications), a SCOPUS- and ESCI-indexed journal focusing on African foreign policy and development issues. Dr. Tiwari earned her Ph.D. in International Relations from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in 2022. Her doctoral thesis, “Foreign Policy of Mauritius, 2001–2016: Diasporas Within as a Determinant,” examined the role of diaspora networks in shaping the foreign policy behaviour of small island states. She completed her M.Phil. in International Relations from JNU in 2015, where her dissertation analysed “Climate Change Negotiation in Durban: Complementarity and Conflicts between African Countries and South Korea.” She holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from IGNOU, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Miranda House, University of Delhi. She has completed UGC Training on NEP Orientation & Sensitisation Programme in July 2024. Her areas of expertise include India’s Foreign Policy and Diaspora Diplomacy, Africa–India Relations, Climate Change Negotiations, Environmental Politics, and International Political Economy. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to numerous academic publications on these subjects.
