About

Dr. Abhijeet Singh is an accomplished psychiatric social work professional and academician, currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatric Social Work at the School of Behavioral Sciences and Forensic Investigations, Rashtriya Raksha University, Dehgam, Gujarat. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychiatric Social Work from LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health (affiliated to Gauhati University) and an M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social Work from the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi, where he was recognized as the Student of the Year. Additionally, he earned his Master of Social Work (MSW) with a specialization in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work from Dr. RML Avadh University, Ayodhay, U.P., where he was an Academic Gold Medalist. Dr. Singh has extensive experience in psychosocial interventions for mental disorders, behavioral addiction management, and mental health research. His professional journey includes a tenure as the Drug Treatment Center (DTC) Coordinator at the Centre for Addiction Psychiatry, Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi, where he actively contributed to research, awareness programs, the development of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, NGO collaborations, and the training of M.Phil. trainees in addiction psychiatry. Beyond academia and clinical practice, Dr. Singh has been an External Examiner for clinical viva-voce examinations at Raksha Shakti University, Ranchi and a Resource Person for state-level training on tobacco cessation under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), Namkum, Ranchi. He has also been a key contributor to a training module for the mental well-being of leprosy patients, developed in collaboration with the Central Leprosy Division (CLD), National Mental Health Programme (NMHP), Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), and the World Health Organization (WHO). A prolific researcher, Dr. Singh has authored 30 research publications in esteemed journals, covering a wide array of topics, including psychosocial interventions, internet addiction, caregiver burden, and psychiatric social work methodologies. He has also contributed to several book chapters and has actively presented research papers at national and international conferences. His academic excellence and contributions have been recognized with multiple accolades, including: Global Eminent Researcher (GER) Award 2024 for excellence in Psychiatric Social Work; International Best Researcher Award (IIRAC-2024); Best Scientific Paper Awards at the 38th and 37th Annual National Conferences of the Indian Society of Professional Social Work (ISPSW); Gold Medal in MSW and Student of the Year Award during his M.Phil. training at Central Institute of Psychiatry, Kanke, Ranchi. Dr. Singh is a Life Member of the Indian Society of Professional Social Work (ISPSW) and the Association of Psychiatric Social Work Professionals (APSWP). His commitment to mental health research, education, and psychosocial interventions continues to make a significant impact in the field of psychiatric social work in India.
