About Ms. Shrusti Dave

I have done my Masters in Forensic Psychology at Coventry University, UK. Psychology graduate (BA) from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India. Where I also completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Clinical and Applied Hypnosis. My education to date has provided me with knowledge and skills which I can apply in work settings with clients in community and prison setting. I am seeking to be part of a challenging working environment that will encourage me to improve and learn new skills. My aim is to help society by using my knowledge of psychological interventions.

My internship at the Hospital of Mental Health of Baroda gave me an opportunity to gain practical experience of the workings of a clinical psychologist. The most essential thing I learned there was to see patients as humans first irrespective of their disorders. I have been introduced and trained in psychological assessment. I understand the need to be calm during stressful situations, which I believe is a necessary skill while working in a prison. Working with people with mental health problems and listening to them actively have made me aware of the need to be more empathetic, approachable and patient. In addition to this during my New Bridge volunteering I have learnt a similar message about prisoners, and I am motivated to work to reduce the stigma and encourage a supportive rehabilitative atmosphere.
