About Mrs. Manjari Chandra

Ms. Manjari Chandra graduated in Philosophy (Hon.) from the Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi. She is a Gold Medallist in Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and has received the “Excellence in Teaching Award” in her LL.M. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in the area of Intellectual Property Laws. In her twelve years of diversified experience in Academics, Training, Legal Research and Monitoring and Evaluation Projects, she has worked with various national and international agencies like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee State Cell, Uttar Pradesh (MGNREGA) and Department for International Development, United Kingdom (DFID). She has authored papers on Women Empowerment, Human Rights and Women and Child Rights. Prior to joining Rashtriya Raksha University, she was the Head of Department, Law, at Unity Post Graduate College, Lucknow.

Her academic interests lie in Business Laws, Intellectual Property Laws, Family Law and International Law.

  • Presented a paper titled “Control on Women’s Sexuality” at the National Conference of Women, 2006, held at Kolkata, West Bengal [The paper attempted to capture the place of women in the society where she is considered a mere “commodity” and the decision-making authority is in the hands of the male members of the family]
  • Presented a paper titled “Honour Crimes” at the National Health Meet, 2006, held at Mumbai, Maharashtra [The theme of the paper was ‘honour killings’ that take place as a consequence of women making a choice for themselves and by themselves]
  • Presented a paper titled “Gender Issue – Violence against Women” at the 52nd All India Conference of the Indian Political Science Association, held at Chaudhary Charan Singh University at Meerut in 2003
  • Played a critical role in organizing the South Asia Consultation on Optional Protocol to CEDAW held in Male, Maldives in November 2006
  • Worked as a Consultant to the Department for International Development (United Kingdom) Funded PACS Programme in order to undertake an impact analysis of the development initiative carried out in six PACS states, i.e., Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh (2007-2009)
  • As part of a project titled “Choices and Decision” funded by the Ford Foundation, United States of America, undertook state-level data collection, collation and analysis of data related to violence faced by women while exercising their right to choose a relationship [at AALI, Lucknow, 2006-2007]
  • Assisted an action-learning sub-project anchored by Knowledge Links in India, as part of a multi-country research project carried out by the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, United Kingdom on “Community Led Total Sanitation across India, Indonesia and Bangladesh”. Worked towards the development of a discussion forum and played a critical role in the management of such forum [at Knowledge Links, Ghaziabad, 2007-2009]
  • Worked with various State agencies as the State Training Coordinator of the MGNREGA State Cell, Department of Rural Development (2010-2011)
  • Monitored and evaluated the Plantation Drive Initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Government and the IEC Wing of the State MGNREGA Cell [at MGNREGA State Cell, Department of Rural Development, 2010-2011
  • Attended the inaugural batch of GMC’s training program on Maritime Arbitration organized by Gujarat Maritime Cluster from 7th October, 2023 to 8th October, 2023
