Mr. Gopal Prasad Choudhary is a distinguished professional in the fields of security Risk Management and Business Continuity. Currently serving as the Senior Vice President and Group Chief Security Officer at Vedanta Group, he brings a wealth of experience from both the corporate world and his extensive service in various government roles. His current research interest mainly focused on streamlining the professionalism in the Private Security Industry.

  • Mr. Gopal Choudhary embarked on his Corporate Journey in 2009 after a successful career in the Indian Army (Commissioned Officer), CISF (Group ‘A’ Gazetted officer) and Jharkhand Police (Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officer). He has served in four active theatres infested with terrorism, insurgency and left-wing extremism in Sri Lanka, Northeast, J & K and Jharkhand. His corporate experience for 14 years includes key leadership positions at Tata Steel where he served as the Chief Security & Brand Protection Officer and played a pivotal role in transforming the Security, Fire, Disaster Management competency, Brand Protection functions leveraging convergence of physical security with IT. He also served as Vice President and Global Head Security at Wipro Limited where he oversaw global security operations, Strategic Intelligence, Fraud Prevention and Investigation Disaster Management and Convergence of Physical Security with IT emphasizing the importance of security in a technology-driven landscape and insulating the Corporation from security, fraud and business disruption risks. Currently, he is working as a Senior Vice President & Group Chief Security Officer, Member, Group Executive Committee of Vedanta Ltd.

Vice President and Secretary, Electronics City Industries’ Association, Bangalore: Mr. Gopal Choudhary actively contributed to the advancement of security measures in the electronics city region besides overall management of this prominent IT hub in India.

President, International Institute of Security & Safety Management, New Delhi (A Not-For-Profit Institution): He assumed the role of President in this Not-For-Profit organization, where he worked towards promoting best practices in security and safety management.

Prior to his transition to the corporate world, Mr. Choudhary served the Government of India and the State Government for over 19 years as an Army, CISF and Police Officer. This extensive experience in government roles adds depth and credibility to his security expertise.

Mr. Gopal Choudhary is currently associated with the Governing Body of Rashtriya Raksha University, a Central University of National Importance focused on security and strategic education. His vast knowledge and diverse experience make him a valuable asset in the realm of security, risk management, and strategic studies.
