About Dr. Anirban Sen

Dr. Anirban Sen is an Assistant Professor of International Relations and Security Studies at the School of International Cooperation, Security, and Strategic Languages (SICSSL) since October 2023. He has previously worked with Synergia Foundation, a non-partisan independent Think Tank aiming to deliver policy analysis on International Affairs; Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, New Delhi and the Department of Defense and Strategic Studies, Savitri Bai Phule Pune University, Pune

Dr. Sen has successfully completed his PhD from the Centre of West Asian Studies, JNU in 2022. His PhD thesis topic is “Iran-India Interactions in Afghanistan, 1996-2015”. The thesis tries to find out how India and Iran out of their own interests got themselves involved in the internal politics of Afghanistan and in the process the various layers of each country’s foreign policy towards the other changed over the given time period. The title of his M.Phil thesis is “Role of Hezbollah in Lebanese Politics, 1082-2011”. The aim of his M.Phil dissertation is to show how the Shia Islamic Movement of Hezb’ollah emerged, developed and eventually became a political party participating in the government of Lebanon. He holds a Master’s degree in South and South East Asian Studies from Calcutta University.

His areas of interest include South & South East Asia Politics, Middle East Politics, Conflict Resolution and Peace Building, Terrorism, Insurgency, and Maritime Security. Dr. Sen has published in peer-reviewed and other journals including web publications on various geo-political issues.
