About Maj Gen Deepak Mehra

Maj Gen Deepak Mehra has served the Nation as an Army Officer for over 35 years in some of the most challenging battlefields to include Siachen Glacier, as part of Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka, Jammu & Kashmir, Nagaland, Manipur and Assam. He has successfully led and commanded sub-units, organisations and formations with the strength of approximately 20,000 individuals. He was awarded 'Kirti Chakra' by the Hon’ble President of India for successfully leading his sub unit in extremely difficult Combat Situations in 2001. In the year 2021, he was once again awarded with Ati Vashisht Seva Medal by the Hon’ble President of India for commanding a Division in insurgency areas leading to large number of surrenders by Bodo Militants paving the way for signing of the peace accord thus, bringing peace to restive areas of Assam.  He served as a Military Attaché at the Embassy of India in Moscow for three years and was instrumental in the enhancement of Military-to-Military contacts between Indian and Russian Army.
