About Gp. Capt. Rajesh Kumar Singh
Group Captain (Dr) Rajesh Kumar Singh is a senior officer from Indian Air Force, who took pre mature retirement from Air Force to pursue his passion for academics and aero- adventure. His last assignment was as Jt Director with the Directorate of Operational Logistics at HQ Integrated Defence Staff under Ministry of Defence, which is responsible for co-ordination of all logistics activities under HQ Andaman Nicobar Command, Port Blair and the co-ordination of armed forces response towards disasters within the country and HADR missions abroad. He was actively involved in co-ordinating disaster response of Armed Forces towards the cyclonic storm “ Phailin” that hit the states of Odhisa and Andhra Pradesh, the forest fire in Tirupati Jungles and the Search & Rescue Operations (SAR) towards MH 370, Flash floods of J&K in 2014, Nepal earthquake. He was also selected by MoD to represent the country in Disaster Relief Exercise 2015 held at Kedah, Malaysia organised by Asian Regional Forum, as Observer.
Military Service
As a career logistics officer, he has vast experience of 30 years in Logistics Management of the Indian Air Force and has worked on various command and staff appointments. Besides working in field appointments at different Air Bases of IAF as Materials Manager, Purchase Manager, Provisioning Manager, Supply Chain Manager & Fleet Management, he also commanded an Equipment Depot of IAF responsible for supply chain management of maintenance spares for Advance Jet Trainer (Hawk 132). Based on his command on languages and good communication skills, he was appointed Public Relations Officer for Ministry of Defence at Allahabad, covering UP and Central India, for 3 years 6 months, where he was the official spokesman for Ministry of Defence, tasked with the responsibility of Media Management and image building of Indian Armed Forces establishments in the states of UP, MP, Bihar and Odhisa.
Academic Experience
Besides professional achievements in the Indian Air Force, he relentlessly pursued academics as a passionate hobby all throughout his career. He did Post Graduation in Defence & Strategic Studies from University of Allahabad in 2002, wherein he was awarded Gold Medal for excellence in academics. He also cleared “National Eligibility Test” conducted by University Grants Commission in 2004, and thereafter worked towards his Ph D on “Militarisation into Space and Beyond : An Analytical Study” from Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University, Faizabad, for which he was awarded the degree in 2011. He also worked as a Senior Research Fellow with United Service Institution (USI), New Delhi from 25 Jul 2011 to 24 Jul 2013, where his research work was eventually published as a book “Military Applications of Space : An Indian Perspective” in 2013. He has presented papers on various fields like disaster management, national security and strategic appreciation of space, cyber and Indian Ocean at various institutions and universities like Allahabad University, Meerut University, Mumbai University, Tripura University, Gorakhpur University, Manipal University, National Civil Defence College, Nagpur, Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) in India. In addition, he also made presentations in Japan Institute of International Studies, Tokyo, Centre for Liberal Arts in Jinan University, Guangzhou in China and Eurasian National University at Astana in Kazakhstan.
Besides this, he is a visiting faculty at United Service Institution of India (USI), New Delhi, Advance Research Institute for Development of Social Sciences (ARIDSS), Meerut Material Management Institute, Devlali, Maharashtra, Dep of Civics & Politics, Mumbai University and Dept of Defence & Strategic Studies, Meerut College, Meerut.
Current Assignment
Currently he is working as Project Advisor and Visiting Faculty at Advance Research Institute for Development of Social Sciences (ARIDSS), Meerut.
