  1. SAMVEDNA (2002 onwards)
    • Founder of Bhopal-based non-profit organization ‘Samvedna’ in 2002. It started its work with slum children in Bhopal. However, during field posting as police officer at Rajgarh District of MP, came across Bedia community. This was a community where a young child was prostituted by family members (sex trafficking), customarily, for generations. Samvedna’s focus of work was shifted from Slum to working with Bedia community with a mandate to combat caste-based commercial sexual exploitation prevalent in the community.
    • The organization has a two-pronged approach – working with the survivors for their rehabilitation and reintegration, and prioritizing prevention for the vulnerable members of the community through advocacy and direct intervention. The work which started with one village of Narsinghgarh subdivision in Rajgarh district, presently, works in 40 villages across 6 districts – Bhopal, Rajgarh, Guna, Raisen, Sagar and Vidisha – in Madhya Pradesh. It is working with over 1425 Bedia families and more than 3000 Bedia children. Website: https://www.samvednaindia.org/
    • To cite one success story, the first vulnerable child who was brought from Salai village in 2010 and enrolled in Bhopal school has completed engineering and appearing for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services exams.
