About Dr. Modhuparna Manna

Dr Modhuparna Manna is an Assistant Professor at the Rashtriya Raksha University (Indian Central University and an Institute of National Importance), India since June 2024. She is a part of the School of Internal Security and Smart Policing (SISSP) in the Lavad (Gujarat) campus of RRU. Her teaching responsibilities and research interests primarily focuses on cybersecurity and its related areas. Her work is motivated by the fact that there is a huge growth in cyber-crime today and cyber-attacks have become very sophisticated. As a result, there is an urgent need for high-quality research to improve defensive tactics.

Dr Manna earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science (with a focus in cybersecurity) from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge (USA). During the course of her dissertation research, she has developed novel memory forensics techniques to examine programming language runtimes, in an effort to detect sophisticated malware. Her research work was presented at prominent conferences like AAFS, WiCyS, and DFRWS and in journals like Digital Investigation.

Before joining RRU, Dr Manna has served as Assistant Professor at two prominent Universities in the US: the University of New Haven and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Dr Manna has also contributed to K-12 education for high schools in Louisiana by helping to develop a high school cybersecurity curriculum, including detailed slides, handouts, and labs, and training high school teachers to use this curriculum in their own classes.
