About Col(Dr) Ashwani Kumar Mehta (Retd)

Col (Dr) Ashwani Kumar Mehta (Retd) is a distinguished Sports Medicine Specialist with an MBBS from the University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi University, and a Diploma in Sports Medicine from Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Punjabi University, Patiala. Born on 1st April 1957, he has an illustrious career in both the military and medical fields, having served as a Doctor/Official in over 20 international sports events, including the 2004 Athens Olympics, SAF Games, CWG 2010, and Military World Games. His expertise spans sports-specific fitness training, injury rehabilitation, anti-doping education, and mountaineering technical training. He has provided medical cover for several high-profile cricket matches, including IPL games and international fixtures at MCA Pune between 2016 and 2020. A seasoned mountaineer, he completed Basic and Advanced Mountaineering Courses at HMI Darjeeling with top honors and participated in numerous expeditions, including successful summits of Mt. Kedarnath Dome and BC Roy Peak. His administrative experience includes commanding a Field Hospital in counter-insurgency operations in North East India and a 198-bedded hospital in Madhya Pradesh. He has been honored with the Chief of Army Staff and Vice Chief of Army Staff Commendation Cards for his exceptional service. Currently, Dr. Mehta runs his own clinic, Dr Mehta’s Healthcare, in Magarpatta, Pune, focusing on general health, fitness, injury rehab, nutrition, and sports medicine. He is also a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, an ACLS-certified provider, and an active participant in sports medicine conferences. His hobbies include badminton, golf, mountaineering, basketball, cricket, adventure sports, and music.
