About the Centre for the Traffic Management and Road Safety (CTMRS)
The Centre for Traffic Management and Road Safety (CTMRS) has been established at the School of Internal Security and SMART Policing (SISSP) from the Academic Year 2020-21. The rationale for establishing the Centre is to work towards offering solutions to the multitude of traffic related challenges, which the Nation faces. The challenges on Indian roads are peculiar on account of quantum and density of traffic, asymmetric traffic, high rate of road traffic fatalities along with lack of awareness on this front. The Centre through its dedicated workforce would focus upon Road Safety Education, Enforcement, Engineering, Emergency Care, Environment and Equity for strengthening the Traffic Management and Road Safety in India.
Vision
- To be the Centre of Excellence in the field of Traffic Management and Road Safety and emerge as a Think Tank in the Domain for providing Policy Inputs.
Mission
- To develop and strengthen the Road Safety Culture in the Society through Training, Research, Education and Extension (TREE) activities.
- To focus upon each of the ‘Es’ of Road Safety namely Education, Enforcement, Engineering, Emergency Care, Environment and Equity for improving Indian scenario.
- To cultivate and strengthen collaborations with the governmental and non-government organizations in the field of Traffic Management and Road Safety.
- To design and offer Certificate/Diploma/Training programmes to police personnel, students and other stakeholders in the field of Traffic Management and Road Safety.
