About Centre for Disaster Risk Reduction (CDRR)

Centre for Disaster Risk Reduction (CDRR) has been established under School of Internal Security and SMART Policing (SISSP), Rashtriya Raksha University.

There has always been an overwhelming role of Security forces i.e., State Police Organisations, Central Armed Police Forces, Private Security Agencies undertaking a primary role in tackling disaster in one form or another. This centre aims to employ Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery steps in overall reduction of risk incurred during any disaster.

While providing a platform to research various implications of disaster in overall National security of the nations this centre aims to provide research outputs that looks into the impact of disaster at various levels of security setup across the globe.

Looking into the challenges faced by climate change on various aspects of the security setup of our country and its overall impact on the extent of various disasters, this centre aims to provide contemporary solutions to overall reduction of risk during any disaster and subsequently train all the stakeholders under the realm of public safety.

1. CDRR successfully conducted “3-Month Hybrid Certificate Course on Disaster Risk Reduction and National Security” from 22nd January to 21st April 2024. January to April 2024
2. Dr. Subhajit Bandopadhyay and Ms. T. Moshvica visited NDRF Academy, Nagpur, India February 2024
3. Dr. Subhajit Bandopadhyay delivered talk at the global GEO AquaWatch Community on the topic Advancing Diversity and Equity in Aquatic Remote Sensing through virtual mode. February 2024
4. Mr. Sourav Dey and Mr. Sagar Kumar Ghodasara participated in FDP on Disaster Risk Management, Social Entrepreneurship and Residence conducted by GNLU with IUINDRR, NIDM, Gandhinagar, India March 2024
5. Ms. Latika Grover and Ms. Aishwarya Singh participated in 3 days FDP on National Programme for Capacity-Building on Post Disaster Needs Assessment and Long-term Recovery organised by NIDM, New Delhi, India. March 2024
6. Field Trip conducted for the participants of 3 months Certificate Course on Disaster Risk Reduction and National Security to Bhuj (Smritivan and Vandematram Memorial), India May 2024
7. Students of AEP DRR along with Ms. Latika Grover, Mr. Sourav Dey visited Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM), Institute of Seismological Research (ISR), and State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Gandhinagar. May 2024
8. Maj Gen Deepak Mehra and Dr. Subhajit Bandopadhyay participated in multi stakeholder symposium and Table top Exercise (Ex- Samanjasya) on Disaster Management jointly conducted by NDMA and Indian Army Central Command at Lucknow, India May 2024
9. Mr. Sagar Kumar Ghodasara participated in FDP cum Training Programme on Chemical and Industrial Safety: Disaster Risk Reduction organised by FICCI – New Delhi, India June 2024
10. Dr. Subhajit Bandopadhyay delivered talk at ISOTOBAT 2024 as an invited speaker on the topic Innovative Technologies in Bioresource Science and Engineering organised by IPB University, Indonesia through virtual mode. June 2024
11. Dr. Surabhi Mehrotra, a leading expert from MANIT Bhopal, India delivered an expert lecture on “Heatwave-Induced Heat Stress in India” June 2024
