About Centre for Border Management and Intelligence Studies (CBMIS)
India is situated in the southern region of Asia and holds the distinction of being the second-largest country in South-East Asia and the seventh-largest country globally in terms of its geographical expanse. The country shares a substantial land border of 15,106.7 kilometers with seven neighboring countries – Afghanistan (106 km), Bangladesh (4,096.7 km), Bhutan (699 km), China (3488 km), Myanmar (1643 km), Nepal (1751 km), and Pakistan (3323 km). Additionally, India’s coastline spans a distance of 11098.81 kilometers across nine states, two Union Territories and two island territories. Given the extensive land border and coastal line, it is crucial for India to establish a detailed study center which can provide the necessary knowledge and skills related to border management, development and security to border guarding forces and other agencies based on research and extensive studies from across the world about the practices of border management. The Centre for Border Management and Intelligence Studies (CBMIS), established in 2020 under the School of Internal Security and Police Administration at Rashtriya Raksha University, an Institution of National Importance under Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India endeavors to fulfill this need by undertaking extensive research programme and conducting various certificate, diploma, post-graduate, and research degree programs for border security forces, coastal/marine police, academicians and for the students who intend to make their career in this field. CBMIS aims and continues to provide training to all stakeholders, government agencies, armed forces, central, state agencies, intelligence agencies, academic institutions, and researchers from India and across the globe to strengthen them in the domain of border security, management and development.
